Understanding Body Mass Index (BMI)
BMI is an internationally used measure for determining if a person is underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. It's calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared (kg/m²).
BMI Categories
- Underweight: < 18.5
- Normal weight: 18.5 - 24.9
- Overweight: 25 - 29.9
- Obese: ≥ 30
BMI Formula
BMI = weight (kg) / height² (m²)
Example: 70 kg / (1.75 m)² = 22.9
